Purpose
The Association promotes the safe use of lasers and intense pulsed light (IPL). It brings together Laser Protection Advisers, Laser Safety Officers, clinicians, researchers, engineers and educators working in healthcare, industry, research and education.
Remit
The Association certifies Laser Protection Advisers who have demonstrated the required standard of knowledge, competence and professional conduct.
The Association publishes the Register of Certified LPAs. Employers and members of the public can use it to identify a certified adviser and confirm that their certification is current.
The Association also supports continuing professional development and the adoption of recognised guidance and good practice.
Status
The Association is an independent professional body. It is not a government department or statutory regulator. Certification confirms that an adviser has met the Association’s standard. It does not replace the legal duties of employers or equipment owners.
